Nine months after submitting the asylum application, the asylum seeker is entitled to a work permit in the Republic of Serbia.

The following can apply for the records of the National Employment Service (NES):

• Unemployed – person from 15 years of age until fulfilling the conditions for retirement (up to 65 years of age at the latest), capable and immediately ready to work, who has not established an employment relationship or otherwise exercised the right to work, and who is registered unemployed and actively seeking employment.
• Employee seeking a change of employment – person who is employed or has otherwise exercised the right to work, and who is actively seeking a change of employment
• Other job seekers – persons older than 15 years of age who is looking for employment, and who cannot be considered unemployed or a person seeking a change of employment (pupils, students, pensioners, persons whose employment rights are suspended and others)

Registration in the official record of the National Employment Service is done in person, in the organizational units of the NES, according to the place of residence.

A person who has been granted the right to asylum is provided with assistance in entering the labor market in the form of:

• Assistance in obtaining the necessary documents required for registration with the National Employment Service and employment agencies;
• Assistance in initiating the procedure for recognition of foreign school documents;
• Ensuring inclusion in additional education and training in accordance with the needs of the labor market;
• Assist in inclusion in active employment policy measures, training and retraining
• The right to one-time assistance for a maximum period of one year from the day the decision on the defense of the right to asylum becomes final
• Integration plan – information on asylum seekers for the purpose of providing assistance in integration into the labor market
