A foreigner may express his/her intention to seek asylum to an authorised police officer on border crossing or in a police station within state territory. Exceptionally, the Asylum Office has its premises in some asylum centers.

After your intention is registered, you can lodge an application in the asylum center where you are referred.

Pending the adoption of the final decision on their asylum application, the Applicants shall be provided material reception conditions at the Asylum Centre managed by the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.

If the Applicant possesses his/her own financial assets, he/she may stay outside the capacities of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations at his/her own cost, and exclusively with a prior consent of the Asylum Office.

Within the asylum center you’ll be provided with contacts of relevant organizations which are providing legal assistance to asylum seekers in Serbia. Information and contacts about them you can find on posters within asylum centers

If you have right on social assistance, the Social Welfare Center in your residence place is responsible for approval of all social assistance applications.

In most of the asylum centers there are outpatient clinics of local health centers. If there is a need for more specialized health interventions, you will be referred by a physician in primary health protection.
